weather. Burning is allowed by permit only, the only
exception to this is household garbage. Extreme caution should be
used when burning household garbage; all material shall be burned
inside an enclosure which will contain all flames and/or
sparks. For more information

Utilities Department - Systems Division, they can be reached at
380-0095 or 383-5677. After 5pm & weekends phone 383-5660.

has not been fixed within a reasonable period of time, contact the

A person trained in alarm repair should be contacted, usually
the company that installed the system or any qualified company
that deals with alarm systems; most companies can be found in the
Yellow Pages. Firefighters are not alarm technicians.
Most smoke alarms that are not wired to a central system are
not repairable. Check your owner's manual for instructions
for service. New smoke detectors can be purchased at local
department, hardware, and grocery stores for approximately 5 to 10
dollars. Remember, always have working smoke detectors
installed, especially when sleeping.
Smoke
detectors have a limited life. Most last only 7 to 10
years and then need to be replaced.

Will your smoke alarms work when you need them? Read
NFPA´s fact sheet for information, as well as installation
and maintenance tips.
No, fireworks are prohibited by City
Code Title IX, Chapter 93.04
The Edinburg Fire Department currently has
4 fire stations.
See "Stations" for their
addresses and a map for the one closest to your home.
If you live within the city limits of Edinburg there should be
hydrants in your neighborhood, check near your home for the
closest hydrant.
If you live in a rural area you may or may not have a hydrant
in your neighborhood. Many newer rural subdivisions have
hydrants supplied by North Alamo Water Department. They have
also added hydrants to major roads in the past few years.
Check around the area where you live for a hydrant. The
Edinburg Fire Department has fire trucks that are built to serve
our rural areas, we also have 2 tanker trucks that each hold 2000
gallons of water.
For areas within the City of Edinburg, Contact the City
Planning & Zoning Department.
For rural areas, contact the Hidalgo County Planning &
Zoning Department
